Turnover weekend
The four things that decide a beach-block move
- 01Book in JulyLate August and the first weekend of September are the busiest days of the year in Pacific Beach and the College Area. Crews there are spoken for by early August.
- 02Measure the alleyMost PB and Mission Beach units load from a one-car alley. A 16 or 20 ft truck is often faster than a 26, even for a big load.
- 03Third floor, no liftBeach blocks are frequently third floor walk-ups. Two stair-carry fees is normal, and it is on the estimate before you book.
- 04Split the bill properlyOn a share-house move we issue one estimate with a per-person inventory, so nobody argues about who paid for the sofa.

Every flight above the first at either address
$75 per flight
A flight is one full storey, counted from the truck to the door. A split-level entry with seven steps is not a flight. Walk-ups in North Park and Golden Hill are where this shows up most, so we photograph the stairwell during the survey and write the number on the estimate before move day.

Elevator carry
Any tower move without direct truck-to-door access

Covers padding the cab, the certificate of insurance your HOA asks for, and the extra walking. Book the freight elevator yourself and send us the reserved window; most downtown buildings only release 8:00 am to 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.

Long carry
More than 75 feet from the tailgate to your door
$85 per 50 ft increment
Measured on the walking path, not in a straight line. Gated Eastlake communities and beach alleys are the usual culprits. If you can reserve two street spaces with cones the morning of the move, the long carry often disappears entirely.

A 26 ft truck physically cannot reach the address

We park the box truck legally nearby and ferry the load in a cargo van. Low-clearance garages, the narrow lanes above La Jolla Shores and some hillside cul-de-sacs need this. We tell you at the survey, never on the day.

Bulky articles get a four-wheel piano dolly or a stair-climbing hand truck, a second lead and their own line on the inventory. Hot tubs, slate pool tables and anything needing a crane are quoted separately after a site visit.

We handle water lines and dryer vents. Gas lines are capped and reopened by a licensed plumber, not by movers, which is a California requirement and not a policy we can waive.
Questions
Share houses, storage and single items
Yes. Two addresses inside the same service area are included on the share-house package. A third drop, or one in a different area, adds drive time to the clock.
Yes, in sealed vaults rather than a rented unit. One vault holds about 250 cubic feet, which covers most single rooms, at a sample $85 a month.
We load into a vault overnight and deliver the next morning. It is a handling charge plus one month of storage, and it is far cheaper than a hotel and a second truck rental.
The packages above are already the lean version: smaller crews, tighter hours, fewer materials. We would rather publish a realistic number than a discount off an inflated one.
Yes, though the two-hour minimum still applies. If it is one bulky item and nothing else, ask about the bulky-article fee instead, which is often less.
Turnover weekend
Late August books out in July
If your lease turns over on the last weekend of August in Pacific Beach, put a date in now. By the first week of August there is usually nothing left on the board.
Same-day slots are first come, first served and depend on the board.
